Hoping to give new meaning to the term “natural light,” a small group of biotechnology hobbyists and entrepreneurs has started a project to develop plants that glow, potentially leading the way for trees that can replace electric streetlamps and potted flowers luminous enough to read by.
The project, which will use a sophisticated form of genetic engineering called synthetic biology, is attracting attention not only for its audacious goal, but for how it is being carried out.
Rather than being the work of a corporation or an academic laboratory, it will be done by a small group of hobbyist scientists in one of the growing number of communal laboratories springing up around the nation as biotechnology becomes cheap enough to give rise to a do-it-yourself movement.

What is?

I know a lot of y’all support my hooping! That’s why more than ever I’m asking you to spare 2 minutes of your time to watch this video of CHOREOGRAPHY I wrote and am performing unedited. It tells a story, and I would really appreciate it!
Story behind the choreography:
The song is “Halo” by Beyonce.
The hoop’s shift from vertical plane to horizontal plane around the body symbolizes the walls we build up to keep others at a safe distance and the struggle and thrill of tearing down this wall, letting someone in, and flowing in the embrace of someone else’s “Halo”, and the closest way I know to get inside a halo is to get inside a hula hoop.

For many years I have kept an antique bike at my shop as a lucky charm . One day one Manolo Manlol stopped in to see if I might buy his bike. He was trying especially hard to raise funds for some charitable work he had become interested in. Of course I loved the 1962 Schwinn panther 3, with its chrome fenders, twin lights and chrome carrier, white walls and it was in remarkable condition but I said no. My financial condition at this time makes it a silly purchase at best. He said if I did He would make a short move about my store the bike and how we both fit into the neighborhood. The sincerity of the gesture moved me off reason and here it is. Please watch and re-blog. It is very good.
